America’s great science
deserves escape velocity.

We believe great technology shouldn’t die
because it was born in the wrong building.

A Van Gogh at a garage sale is still a Van Gogh.

It just never sells like one. That’s why we built Okina.

Two of them exited, Innovest and RiskMetrics. Danielle Larish

    Co-Founder & General Partner

Danielle has spent the last five years pulling technologies out of government labs and getting them sold. At Edgesource she took an air awareness platform called Dowding out of the Air Force Research Laboratory's R&D portfolio and into a fully funded DoD Program of Record, the only lab technology to make that transition in five years, and turned a business unit running a $1 million deficit into $4.7 million of revenue in under a year. At AeroVironment she designed the company's first board-approved dual-use commercialization program and venture studio, screening more than 200 government R&D technologies down to 12 and standing up three spinouts. Before defense she ran strategy and operations at Southwest Airlines, Wayfair and Gap, across 14 industries in all.

    Ted Shergalis

    Co-Founder & General Partner

Ted has founded four technology companies over twenty-five years and raised more than $150 million to build them. The first, [x+1], was acquired by Rocket Fuel for $230 million. The others took him a long way from ad tech: Kinsa, Magnuss and XMST, in health, maritime wind propulsion and digital infrastructure. Along the way he built patent portfolios, negotiated acquisitions and public-market transactions, and worked to commercialize geothermal energy and methane mitigation technologies that most investors considered too early. He started his career as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and holds a B.A. from Harvard.
